An Interview With a Minnesota Home Remodeler – Scott Nichols

We interviewed one of our very own contractors today to here it from the source about what we do at Treasured Spaces and why we’re proud of the work we do!

Who are you? 

Scott Nichols, and I work with Josh here at Treasured Spaces

How long have you been with Treasured Spaces?

3 Years

What were you doing prior to joining the Treasured Spaces team?

Always in some type of general contracting, I did cabinetry for 8 years, worked as a laborer for a masonry company in North Dakota for over a year, and other odds and ends type jobs in the industry. 

What drew you to Treasured Spaces?

My brother actually worked for the company, and we both knew Josh from back in the day racing dirt bikes. It was also close to home, so that made it an easy choice. I also love working for a smaller company because unlike some bigger corporations, you get to know your team a lot better. When you get to know everyone at a more personal level it makes the job a lot better. 

What type of work do you do for the team?

We do a little bit of everything, including framing, tile, drywall – anything the homeowner wants we can make it happen!

What do you feel is the value that Treasured Spaces offers?

Value to me is being able to do something a little different every day. Some companies have you doing the same thing every day, whether it’s framing or other things. We get a lot more variety here and can show up to a job site and one day be framing, and the next week could be doing a tiled backsplash in somebody’s house. It kind of breaks up your day and makes it a little bit more interesting. 

What do you love about the process?

Watching the homeowners reactions to seeing everything coming together in their home, it’s tough when you’re doing a remodel and it’s hard for them to picture the end product during the framing phase. It’s nice to be able to sit with them and talk about what they want and make that happen for them. Seeing the excitement in their eyes as things start to take shape and come together is really enjoyable to watch. 

Do you have any stories from a recent project that you particularly enjoyed?

Each project has a little aspect of that to it. One that sticks out is a job site that we are at that we pretty much built from the ground up in about 2 years. It was an all custom home and the homeowners were very specific about what they wanted and to take their ideas and put it into shape in their new home was exciting to see. 

As a craftsman, what does it feel like to reveal a completed job to a homeowner?

It feels good to show people that you take pride in your work, and like what you do which shows with the work that you do. They get excited about it, and we get excited about it too.
