There are some fantastic organizations throughout Minnesota and here at Treasured Spaces, we thnk it’s appropriate to highlight some of the awesome things they are doing.
We recently sat down with Beatrice Owen of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) to talk about the benefits her organization provides for remodelers and homeowner alike.
As a member myself, I can personally attest to the great work that NARI does for community across the state.
See our full conversation in the video below:
How did you get involved in NARI?
I’ve been at NARI for about two years. I have previous experience in nonprofit management which eventually led me to NARI.
Ever since I started, I’ve enjoyed working with the members and the remodelers here in Minnesota are fantstic.
What are the benefits to a homeowner from NARI?
As a homeowner, one of the biggest investments you’ll make is your home.
When it comes to remodeling and welcoming someone into your home, you want to make sure that they are someone you can trust. All of our members have to abide by a code of ethics and we do a background check.
That way, you know that you can trust any of our NARI members.
Yeah, it’s a big leap of faith bringing in someone you don’t know to come into your home and take it apart, and then put it back together.
Absolutely — and there are a number of resources out there to find people to work on your home. But narimn.org is the number one way to find quality remodelers. You can even sort by category!
What do you see as the benefits for contractors to join NARI?
That’s an excellent question and people can join for a variety of reasons. Including education and networking opportunities.
But the number one benefit we offer is a competitive advantage — not only for the contractor but for the homeowner as well.
The competitive advantage comes in part from the round tables we have. And you yourself are a member of a roundtable, right?
Yes, I was a little intimated at first going into it, but soon learned that these are the nicest people who are willing to help with anything and are really great, knowledgable people.
Yes, our roundtables are definitely the best benefit we provide. They meet once a month and it’s an opportunity for our members to meet with one another, share with one another, and find out what’s going on in the industry and bring that advantage to you as well as the homewner.
