Over the past year there are many new exciting styles making statements in the kitchen redesign industry. From new smart technology appliances, to classic designs making comebacks, there really is something for everyone in this years Top Trends in Kitchen Remodeling.

Here is your inspiration:

Gray Cabinets

For years, a top trend in Kitchen remodeling has been a neutral color scheme, as this allows you to personalize certain aspects to reflect your own style. Pairing a dark floor with white cabinets, or vice versa is a very popular look that feels clean and inviting. It is perceived that white is the best color for kitchen cabinets, as it gives the illusion of a spacious place, while most people view dark cabinets as an effect that makes the kitchen look smaller.  For years this has been a universal truth for designers, as the contrast creates a balanced and dynamic space. Over the last year, gray has begun to make serious traction in remodels. Leading manufacturers will tell you that white cabinets continue to lead in sales, however gray is the color that has made the biggest leap in popularity.  Soft gray cabinets with richly stained wood floors is a trend to watch.

Apron Front Sinks

Just like cabinets, the most popular sinks tend to be white. It is long thought to be a classic look, and most easy to keep clean. However, todays top sink trend in kitchen remodeling is all about a complementary, neutral palette. Many designers are opting for a chrome, nickel, or matte black finish. While pairing the sink with a colorful or textured splash-back to accent the sinks design. If the chrome, nickel, or black is not your taste, some designers are opting for a colorful sink, which is a great way to create contrast with a small amount of color in a neutral kitchen. This creates the effect of the sink being a focal point of the kitchen, and as long as the backsplash shares some of the same colors and design, this is a classy look for any kitchen.  The biggest comeback for a classic look is the apron-front sinks, pictured below. It appears these sinks have never gone out of style. They add a timeless effect to any kitchen remodel, and they are very practical, as they are deep enough to hold large pots and platters for easy cleanup. Atop of the sink, currently the most popular faucet design is the inclusion of architectural lines with a minimalist profile, high clearance, swivel spout, and sleek lever handles. This makes for a look distinguished, and simple look atop the kitchen sink. Its all about excellent functionality and modern design.

Mixed Countertops

Countertops are possibly the single most influential factor when determining a kitchen’s style. Often the countertop also comes as the highest price tag item, and they can bust a budget. The market for a trendy countertops has been revolving around granite, quartz and laminate. Depending on your budget these three options are classic looks, however if you prefer a newer look these are no longer your only choices. Wood countertops are making a case to catch on as one of the hottest trends of 2017. The mixed countertop, which combines the smooth warm feel of wood, with cool feel of marble, gives your countertop the best of both worlds.

Laminate Countertops

Currently, a top trend in kitchen remodeling has been opting for a look alike surface such as a granite look-alike lament countertop. Countertop manufacturers are creating countertops that feature a more realistic, larger stone pattern, and rounded edge design for for a high-end granite look a like countertops without killing the budget. These laminate countertops are a fraction of the price, but they appear high end often with subtle color gradations that lends well to sleek contemporary designs. Some plastic laminates also offer protection from mold and mildew, being a non-porous surface, it is easy to keep sanitized.

Anti Microbial Countertops

Countertops can deteriorate quick due to stain and odor-causing microbes. Spills and messes are extremely likely to occur on kitchen counters. A high end expensive trend has been to install countertops that are nonporous, heat resistant, and anti microbial. These countertops are resistant to spills and scratches, making them timeless purchases that will last. Silestone quartz countertops have antimicrobial agents located within the stone. Unchecked bacteria on your countertop can double in numbers every 20 minutes. The antimicrobial agents in Silestone can kill the bacterium before it has a chance to multiply. If your worried about food safety, Silestone should be high on your list. Copper is also making a comeback in the kitchen thanks to its ability to kill bacteria on contact. Copper is the number one growing trend in restaurant kitchen redesigns, and we have begun to see this implemented in residential kitchen remodels. While copper is not resistant to scratches like quartz, it does give an industrial and unique look to your new kitchen.

Effortless Storage

Minimalism is taking over as one of the top trends in kitchen remodeling, with lots of designers opting for a lack of clutter in the kitchen. This trend is very aesthetically pleasing, and has resulted in pullouts and rollouts drawers being implemented in remodels to make kitchen organization easier than ever before. Because kitchen storage is an issue in any kitchen, especially in condos or for homeowners that have kitchens short on space.  Manufactures have been creating custom designed multi-tiered drawers. Hardware manufacturers have been changing the way cabinet doors and drawers function with hydraulic, easy-close doors fold up, and touch of a button drawers, making them perfect for kitchens where space is an issue. This sleek design pairs well with open shelving, creating a functional and modern feeling which is fast becoming a Top Trend in Kitchen Remodeling.

Smart Appliances

Similar to how smart phones have been phasing out landlines phones, smart fridges and automation in the kitchen continues to appeal to consumers in the same way. While smart appliances can be an expensive addition to a kitchen, manufactures continue to push along the future of kitchen technology. Smart technology has become a top trend in Kitchen remodeling this year. Smart fridges are keeping grocery list, and even ordering food for you.

Big Lights, Large Lighting

A well lit kitchen has always been a Top Trend in Kitchen Remodeling. Sky lights, and large windows are an attractive feature for kitchen redesigns, as lighting is crucial for the functionality of a kitchen. Within the last year, there has been a movement towards oversized hanging light fixtures. Instead of many lights, designers have instead chose to go with less fixtures, but larger and more functional lights. This “less is more” approach to design focuses on creating ample light, with less lights. Done properly this adds a serious statement to any kitchen redesign.  Over the last decade kitchen designs have trended away from the kitchen table, and instead incorporate focus on a large island areas and functional counter space. The modern family has moved from the table to the counter, and with that more emphasis is placed on this seating area, the lighting has adapted as well.
